Want to share a family memory or story?

This form is for questions and general inquiries. If you have
memories, photos, or documents about people or businesses in
the 1921 volume, please visit our story submission page.

You’ll be able to use the Find Your Family [Coming in Fall 2026] page to search through 236 documented names from the 1921 volume, filtering results instantly, or browsing the complete alphabetical list.

Start by sharing what you know. Visit the Share Your Story page to submit photos, documents, or memories about your family’s connection to La Colonia. Your contribution becomes part of a living archive that future descendants and researchers will find too.

The 1921 volume captured one moment in time. If your family arrived later, lived in a different neighborhood, or weren’t included in the original publication, they won’t appear in our directory. However, your family’s connection to New Haven’s Italian-American community can still enrich La Colonia Digital Archive. To discuss how, please reach out!

Absolutely! The project welcomes memories from anyone who knew these people or places: neighbors, customers, employees, or anyone who heard stories passed down through generations. Your connection to La Colonia matters.

There are many ways to contribute:

– Spread the word to family, friends, and Italian American organizations

– Share the archive on social media

– Help with community outreach

Use the contact form above if you’d like to get involved!

We appreciate your help in keeping the archive accurate! Please use the contact form above and select “I found an error in the directory” from the dropdown. Include the specific name or business and the correction needed.

Yes! This archive is a public resource. We ask that you properly cite the archive and respect copyright on any user-submitted materials. For academic or commercial use, please contact us to discuss attribution and permissions.

Yes, and there will be an interactive map to go with it!
Both are works in progress, which is why community contributions matter so much.

The Translation: The original Italian text will be accessible to everyone — descendants who don’t speak Italian and researchers studying Italian American history alike.

The Map: When complete, it will show exactly where each business and family was located. You’ll click on any address to see the original advertisement, historic photos, and community memories tied to that place.

Every document, photo, or story you share enriches what future visitors will discover here.
